Proper Setup and Field Adjustment of LARI Drag Harrow: A Step-by-Step Operator Checklist from LOZOVA MACHINERY

Publication date: 2026-05-21

Proper preparation of the LARI tooth drag harrow (original manufacturer — LOZOVA MACHINERY) before entering the field guarantees maximum uniformity of soil tillage, reduces the load on the tractor, and completely eliminates accidental structural breakdowns of the unit. Before starting active field operations, every operator must perform three mandatory basic agricultural equipment setup steps.

  • Adjustment and Tensioning of the Guy Cables: Shifting the harrow wings from the transport position to the perpendicular working position is carried out using a reliable hydraulic system. The length of the steel cables is adjusted with special screws until any slack is completely removed and then tightly secured with locknuts. It is strictly forbidden to work in the field with sagging or unevenly tensioned cables.
  • Correct Choice of the Optimal Attack Angle: For light soils and standard spring moisture conservation, the drag section is set at an angle of 22 degrees (with the teeth oriented with the sharp end facing the direction of travel). If you encounter heavy clay, dried-out crust, or a large amount of thick crop residue, the sections are turned 180° for aggressive operation at an angle of 40°.
  • Tillage Depth and Speed Control: High-quality seedbed preparation to a depth of 3 to 8 cm is adjusted by the position of the sections and hydraulics. Remember that the optimal operating speed is 12–15 km/h. If the tractor speed drops below 8 km/h, the effect of loosening and breaking up soil clods is significantly reduced.

Regularly, at the end of each work shift, clean the articulated joints of the sections from dirt, visually check the condition of the frame, and control the tightening of the tooth threaded connections. Use only original LOZOVA MACHINERY spare parts. This will help prevent losing them on stony or heavy field areas and keep the equipment in ideal working condition.
