ProductionLOZOVA MACHINERY

LOZOVA MACHINERY is manufactured at several modern plants.

One of them is Lozova Forging and Mechanical Plant (LKMZ), the largest forging and stamping enterprise in Ukraine and the CIS. It is part of the UPEC Industrial Group.

The plant was established in 1966 to provide hot-stamped billets to the Kharkiv group of agricultural machinery enterprises. The location of the production was determined by the presence of a major railway junction and the proximity of metallurgical plants in Eastern Ukraine.

LKMZ is a leader in the production of transmission and chassis components for tractors and road construction equipment, and manufactures bus bridges, parts and assemblies for tractor equipment, parts for railway rolling stock, and tillage equipment for use in energy-saving technologies.

The plant also specializes in mass production of 300 different types of forgings; its installed capacity is up to 180 thousand tons of forgings per year.

The main consumers of the forgings are the tractor, automotive, agricultural machinery and railway transport industries.

TECHNOLOGY AND QUALITY

The use of unique technologies makes it possible to produce forgings of complex shapes and high precision with a high metal utilization rate, such as

hot extrusion of hollow and solid journal forgings and flanged hubs;
stamping of crankshafts with subsequent unwinding of connecting rods;
cross-wedge rolling of solid and hollow forgings such as stepped shafts and gear shafts;
rolling ring shaped forgings from stamped billets.
LKMZ is the only enterprise in Ukraine that has the status of an approved supplier of SKF components, the world leader in bearing production.

In 2005, the plant was certified according to the international quality standard ISO 9001:2008. The company is preparing for certification according to ISO/TS 16949.

ENERGY CONSERVATION

Over the past few years, LKMZ has prioritized the development of an energy efficiency policy.

The company is taking measures such as insulating building structures, replacing lighting fixtures with more efficient ones, and introducing automatic energy consumption metering. Energy savings are also achieved by modernizing production facilities.

The heat supply system is also being reconstructed. Soft-start systems for electric motors of process equipment with a capacity of more than 30 kW are being introduced and the operation of circulating systems is being optimized. In addition, some of the process equipment at LKMZ is planned to be switched from gas-flame heating of billets to electric induction heating, and the latest generation of energy-efficient gas furnaces are being used.

COMPREHENSIVE AUTOMATION SYSTEM

In 2008-2010, LKMZ, as well as all the enterprises of the UPEC Industrial Group, implemented a comprehensive system for automation of design and technological preparation and computer support of machine-building production (CSA).

The project was implemented on the basis of integrated CAD/CAM/PLM solutions and software products of the Pro/ENGINEER-Windchill platform by RTS (USA). Also, a unique complex of technological preparation of production based on Windchill MPMLink and VERTICAL systems from ASCON (Russia) has been launched.

The main benefits of implementing CAD include: improved accuracy and quality of products by working in a single environment - from the 3D design model to production technology; reduced process times; increased efficiency of preparing design and technological documentation; and a significant reduction in the cost of design and technological preparation of production in general.

PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT AND IMPROVEMENT

The Engineering Center - Ukrainian Design Bureau of Transmissions and Chassis (UKBTSh), a part of UPEC IG, specializes in the development of new products in the field of agricultural machinery, as well as transmission and chassis elements. It provides design support for the serial production of the machine tools, modernization of the existing product line and expansion of the product range.

Agricultural sector. Putting into production a full range of tillage equipment of the world technical level for optimal farming in order to maximize the needs of the agricultural sector:

completion of a full line of high-speed short disk harrows with a working width of 2.5 to 16 m
development of a family of sowing complexes based on the manufactured equipment;
expanding the product range to ensure that the plant's implements can be used in most agricultural operations.
UTBTSH works in close cooperation with customers, in partnership with industry research organizations such as Kharkiv National Agrarian University named after V.V. Dokuchaev and the Ukrainian Research Institute for Forecasting and Testing of Machinery named after L. Pogorelov.
